How To Let Your Intuition Guide You Throughout Life

During my journey for the past 28 years, I’ve come to learn, know and trust my intuition better and better.

I’ve felt little nudges or even really crappy feelings telling me where to go and do and though I believe there’s still more to learn and trust (I am in no way an expert on intuition) I think what I have to say today can help you on your journey.

Something magical happens once you can identify those little whispers of wisdom coming through to you that I think many people are missing out on.

The truth is, most people don’t know how powerful they are with this gift they have received.

That is because they’ve just never been able to identify that gut-feeling they have (perhaps that’s you?) or because they don’t believe in the woo-woo stuff enough to expand their minds, as I sometimes like to share here, and that is perfectly fine.

But, whether you believe in woo-woo stuff or not, your intuition is integrated into your DNA and is as real as anything around you that you can see right now.

It is a powerful tool you can use to unlock many opportunities (or avoid a lot of disasters) if you’re brave enough to listen and follow through on its guidance.

WHAT IS INTUITION

Let’s start with building the foundation work for understanding what your intuition is.

Your intuition is that inner voice within you, the gut feeling, your internal guidance system that can suddenly come out of nowhere.

You can know something without having seen the proof of it yet.

It is the inner knowing telling you that you should do something without you knowing how or why.

It is your gut feeling telling you that something is off, wrong or ability to feel and know that something isn’t right that you should get away from or that is telling you that something terrible is about to happen.

More simply, it is the signals, messages, signs, coincidences and intuitive messages telling us what to do.

It can’t easily be explained.

It is just you knowing something without knowing why you know it – and you have the choice to follow its guidance or not.

HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR INTUITION

Lots of people are wondering how you connect better to your intuition.

It always makes me giggle a little because that question reminds me of myself and how unaware I was of my power before I “woke up” and suddenly saw the long list of times my guidance had tried to tell me what to do. Still, I was confused over what to do, when in reality, it was always crystal clear.

That’s why I always go by the saying that “If you doubt what to do, then you already know what to do”.

Your intuition isn’t playing any games, and if there is any confusion in your life or you doubt what to do, you already know the answer.

Even if you say, you don’t know.

Intuitively, you DO know.

You see… If you’re confused, then you’re not tuning into your intuition.

You are just staying in your head trying to make sense or figure a way out of something you might not be ready to admit to yourself yet.

You say “you don’t know what to do” is just another escape from that inner knowing and guidance.

You do know, but you’ve just gotten used to following your head instead of your intuition.

But what I want you to understand is that if you followed your intuition, there wouldn’t be all of this noise in your head. You would know, trust and follow its guidance even if you didn’t know what, why and how yet.

You would know it was the right thing to do because it’s what your heart, gut feeling and the little nudge are saying to you.

So you see, the first step to “connecting deeper” to your intuition is to ask yourself if you’re following the noise in your head or if you’re following the feeling that it is just the right thing to do.

That is how I’ve personally distinguished the noise from the wisdom and how I’ve been able to follow my intuition, even in the most challenging situations of my life.

You don’t need to connect deeper to anything. Your intuition is there whether you realize it or not, and it is always trying to guide you.

But it can only help you so much depending on how willing you are to sit with it, listen to it and trust it.

So if you’re looking for an antidote for having “lost” your connection with your intuition, the best medicine for that will be to find a way to quiet your mind.

Now that you know and understand what your intuition is and how to distinguish between your inner guidance and your thoughts, it’s time to look at how your intuition shows up for you specifically – because this can vary a lot.

HOW TO TRUST & BUILD YOUR UNIQUE INNER GUIDANCE

Small steps

First, I want to make something obvious.

Transformations, self-love, trusting ourselves and being in tune with our intuition isn’t an overnight process when you’ve spent your whole life living in contrast to that.

It takes time, so be sure to give it time and nurture each part of you that shows resistance and take small steps each day to get you closer to the outcome you see and want for yourself.

If you’re unsure how you can nurture your intuition, I’ve made it easy for you and will down below list my favourite ways to stay in tune with my intuition and allow it the space it needs to get heard.

Meditation

I’m pretty sure this is mentioned on every other blog out there that talks about intuition, but if you are serious about connecting to yourself deeper and trusting your gut, you need to create the space it needs to thrive.

The best way to do that is through meditation.

I’m sure you already know all of the excellent benefits meditation can provide, but you haven’t quite gotten the hang of it yet?

Well, let me spark your motivation a bit.

The more you quiet your mind, the more wisdom and guidance will be brought to you.

It is like meditation is this one-and-only filter you can apply to your life that lets you get past all of the noise of the world and lets you listen to what you need to know.

When you meditate, your brain reaches one of 4 brain wave states you have access to – most notably the Alpha state and this is where the magic happens.

I’m sure you’re wondering by now, “What kind of meditation do I need to do?” And the answer is simple.

There is no right or wrong meditation you can do.

But I will say this, any meditation that connects you to your third eye is a winner.

As long as you can quiet your mind, ask for the guidance of what you need to know, the answer will be somewhere inside of you if you are patient and willing enough to trust and let go and listen to what pops up in your mind when asking.

Oracle cards

In case of meditation is not your thing, perhaps oracle cards will help you.

Oracle cards are a fantastic tool to connect to your intuition.

I ask for guidance almost every day, and it’s my favourite tool to use whenever I feel stuck, have decisions to make, or are just unclear of my focus of the day.

Picking a card is easy, and this practice won’t even take you 3 minutes.

There’s plenty of oracle cards out there for you to choose from, but see if you can let the oracle card deck choose you instead of the other way around.

For example, just a few months ago, I was on the lookout for a new oracle deck. I had in mind exactly which one I was interested in, but I didn’t go above and beyond to get my hands on it.

Then later that week, as I was walking through the North Laines in Brighton, I came across a spiritual shop and decided to go in, and lord and behold, there it was.

The oracle deck from Rebecca Campbell was waiting for me.

What was even more impressive was that this deck was the only one they had in the shop.

So I do not doubt in my mind that the oracle deck that is meant for you will be yours.

Use a pendulum

The pendulum was a tool I first got introduced to (seriously) when I got my certification in NLP, hypnotherapy and EFT.

I remember playing around with something similar as a kid, but I didn’t understand their power and how much clarity they could bring you back then.

But pendulums work as a clear path to your intuition, and they are probably the most accessible tool to use of all the tools I’m providing you with today.

All you have to do, is get a pendulum, think or ask the pendulum a yes or no question (and knowing which direction means what), and then the pendulum will sway to the side or back and forth depending on what you asked.

It might be too woo-woo for some people, but you can genuinely receive a lot of guidance from your intuition this way.

It has come in handy for me many times over.

Listen to your feelings

Another tool for developing your intuition abilities is to let your emotions guide you.

It can be challenging to be human sometimes.

We often don’t understand what our emotions are telling us, so that is why I don’t always recommend “just to feel your feelings”. Because human emotions are complicated, and sometimes what our feelings are telling us isn’t always what is most beneficial to us in times of chaos or hurt.

So keep in mind that your emotions are a valuable tool that can certainly create a lot of clarity for you, but our feelings can also be deceiving. We need to have the ability to look at things objectively away from our emotions to make the right choices for ourselves.

Journaling

This brings me to the following tool to use: Journaling.

Writing them out is a perfect tool to navigate those emotions if you’re unsure what your feelings are trying to tell you.

So, often when I feel a lot of hard feelings, I write them out, cry them out and do what is necessary not to let them build up within me and then the next day, I will read what I wrote from the day before and see if that is still how I am feeling.

9/10 times I don’t feel the same way, and it was more likely just a moment of my thoughts getting the best of me.

But there is that one time where it’s like: “Okay, I still feel this way”, and then I’ll find ways of how I can deal with the situation or let it go through healing.
